Have you ever wondered how joints get their special shape? Or how the joint cells and joint matrix contribute to this shape formation? Saima Ahmed is a Postdoctoral Research Associate, studying the cell- and matrix-level events leading to shape change in the joint. This project is funded by the European Research Council. Saima completed her PhD in Bioengineering at the University of Sheffield (2017), where she identified a novel mechanism through which injured cartilage can repair itself with the help of mesenchymal stem cells. She also holds a bachelor degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Edinburgh.
